Position Overview
Jiva Consulting is seeking a Technical Writer who will support client work in documenting technical processes. We are seeking individuals who have backgrounds in science, engineering, technology or math. Experience writing business or educational documents, editing materials, and managing clients is an asset. The Technical Writer will work closely with other team members, including researchers, analysts, editors, designers, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop documentation. The Technical Writer will have a key role in ensuring that a consistent and high quality of work is delivered both internally and externally to clients.

Primary Responsibilities
• Take a proactive approach to understanding client information and business function
• Analyse content to design the best method for clear and accurate knowledge transfer
• Eliminate non-essential content and create concise, accurate, and effective content
• Consistently apply style, formatting, and process guidelines
• Analyse and write about a range of topics for company and client projects
• Conduct quality control reviews of documentation at various stages of development
• Prepare and support the Project Manager for review sessions to ensure focus and timely results
• Own and manage document development processes and effectively manage time and deadlines
• Collaborate with team members to define objectives, guide processes, and engaging interactions within project constraints
• Contribute to a systematic design and development model to improve resources and minimize the development time for future materials

Research Skills
• Strong research and organizational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to analyse process models and identify potential areas for improvement
• Knowledge and skills required to document and present technical processes visually and through text

Writing Skills
• Ability to understand, clarify, and define, procedural content clearly and simply
• Proven document development, formatting, and editing skills
• Expert knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and the English language
• A strong understanding of standard applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Collaborative Skills
• Team-oriented with an ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
• Exhibits enthusiasm, promotes a team environment, and fosters an atmosphere of trust 
• Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate to colleagues and clients
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work on multiple, concurrent projects
• Proven project management abilities including logistics management, team management, and client management skills

Compensation
The hourly rate for this position is $25 - $30 / hour.
