INTEGRATING HYDROGEN INTO THE ENERGY INDUSTRY
This course introduces the fundamental concepts of using hydrogen as an energy resource. After defining hydrogen’s basic characteristics, the learner will explore the potential methods used for sourcing , producing, and transporting hydrogen to end users. The course also explores how hydrogen can be integrated into the current fossil fuel value chain, clarifies what is currently technologically feasible, and discusses hydrogen’s near-term opportunities and constraints.
CARBON CAPTURE, UTILIZATION, AND STORAGE (CCUS)
This course provides an introduction to carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS). The course lays out a foundational understanding of the importance of CCUS in the context of climate change and current net zero greenhouse gas emissions targets. An explanation of the key characteristics of CO2 starts the course. Then, carbon capture and storage methods are compared to gain an understanding of both their viability and their shortcomings. In addition, this course looks at possible uses for captured carbon. Lastly, the course outlines projected opportunities in CCUS over the next five years based on current research.
