The UFL Applicant Pre-Screening Tool, developed by Jiva Consulting in collaboration with CAPULC, is a 21-question pre-employment and training needs assessment that measures critical thinking skills and assesses an applicant's ability to analyze information, solve unfamiliar problems, and communicate solutions clearly.
Consisting of questions in the areas of inference, assumption recognition, deduction, interpretation, argument evaluation, ethics, and interpersonal skills, it is intended to identify potential job applicants who are likely to have a higher degree of success in their roles.
These focus areas (i.e., problem-solving) were identified as the most important in the Underground Facility Locator Career Campaign survey (conducted in 2025).
